The intention of this project is based on the best we can extract from today and with the potential of the rural and natural context of the region, aimed at those looking for a calm environment prone to rest. The Naturtejo da Meseta Meridional Geopark, which unites the districts of Castelo Branco, Idanha-a-Nova, Nisa, Oleiros, Proença-a-Nova and Vila Velha de Rodão, aims to enhance the places that act as key testimonies of the Earth History, fostering employment and developing regional economic development.

The millenary history of this region has endowed it with numerous castles, churches and palaces, reaching a rare diversity in Portugal. The status of the "Most Portuguese Village in Portugal", granted to Monsanto and the Schist Villages, spread throughout the Geopark, are symbols of an ethnographical wealth that is still very well preserved.
